Meaning: In Indian language, the meaning of word Shenai (शणय) is the manager or administrator of holy Temples. In Australia, Shenai (or Shenaya) is one of the names for girls, meaning a very beautiful girl. In China, Shenai (or Xinya) means a smart and very intelligent person.
Comments: Shenai is a common last name amongst Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community originating from Goa and Konkan province in Maharashtra. The name Shenai is often spelt as Shenoi in Kerala, and Xennai, Shenoy, or even Sinai in Goa. It was customary in Goa for many Shenai families to add the name of their ancestral village or title after Shenai to highlight their origin, e.g. Shenai-Salgaonker (denoting village) and Shenai-Khatkhate (denoting title) etc.
